PM&R Consultant Opportunity in Long-Term Acute and Acute Rehabilitation Care

Spaulding Rehabilitation and the Mass General Brigham Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation are seeking a Board Eligible/Certified Physiatrist to serve as a long-term acute care PM&R consultant at Spaulding Hospital for Continuing Care Cambridge (SHC), a 180-bed long-term acute care hospital caring for medically complex patients.

In January, SHC will expand its acute rehabilitation unit, creating an opportunity for a physiatrist to help support a growing program for patients recovering from critical illness, neurologic injury, brain injury, prolonged ICU stays, and other complex conditions.

Role and Responsibilities

The PM&R consultant will provide physiatric expertise across the LTAC and acute rehabilitation settings, partnering with interdisciplinary teams to develop rehabilitation plans, optimize functional recovery, and support safe transitions to the next level of care.

• Consult on patients with complex medical, neurologic, and functional needs.
• Collaborate with hospitalists, specialists, nurses, therapists, respiratory therapists, and case managers on individualized care and discharge plans.
• Contribute to program growth, quality improvement, care coordination, and interdisciplinary education.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and Board Eligible/Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts.
• Experience or strong interest in LTAC, inpatient rehabilitation, medically complex rehabilitation, neurologic rehabilitation, brain injury, cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, or critical illness recovery.
• Commitment to interdisciplinary, patient-centered care.
