PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center is seeking a Board-Certified Thoracic Surgeon to join our rapidly growing thoracic surgery service. This staff surgeon role focuses on delivering high-quality, evidence based, patient-centered care with an emphasis on robotic thoracic surgery. The position is clinically focused on multidisciplinary care and quality initiatives within a collaborative regional network.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide comprehensive thoracic surgical care including lung, pleural, mediastinal, and esophageal disease (as applicable).
- Participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and shared call coverage.
- Ensure high standards of perioperative care and patient safety.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Collaborate with pulmonology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology teams within the region.
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and coordinated care planning.
- Support timely and efficient patient pathways for diagnosis and treatment.
- Quality & Program Participation
- Participate in quality initiatives including STS database reporting and outcomes improvement.
- Support comprehensive ERAS protocols and evidence-based perioperative care pathways.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement and patient safety activities.
- Education (Optional Participation)
- Participate in teaching activities for residents, students, and clinical staff as applicable.
- Support OR team education and robotic surgery training initiatives.
- Required Qualifications
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited thoracic surgery fellowship.
- Board Certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with robotic thoracic surgery.
- Eligible for Washington State medical licensure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with esophageal surgery is highly preferred.
- Experience developing multidisciplinary care models.
- Interest in quality improvement
Compensation & Benefits:
- Starting salary of $654,784 based on a 1.0 FTE with productivity incentives.
