Provide weekend inpatient general surgery coverage with a low daily patient volume while managing a broad mix of adult surgical cases in a Level IV trauma setting.

Practice & Cases

• Adult inpatient general surgery coverage
• Rounding and admissions on assigned patients
• Approximately 1 to 3 patients and about 5 phone consults per shift
• Trauma, laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy, vascular procedures, and central line placement

Schedule

• Weekend coverage blocks
• Call required with a 30-minute response time
• Shift times determined during scheduling
• Coverage based on weekend staffing needs

Requirements

• Must be an MD or DO
• Active Texas medical license required
• Board Certified or Board Eligible within 5 years in General Surgery
• ACLS required

Logistics

• Airfare, lodging, rental car, and mileage reimbursement provided
• Travel accommodations available within established reimbursement guidelines
