Practice Setting

• Inpatient adult cardiothoracic surgery service
• Typical daily workload, 3 to 6 patients seen, about 1 admission
• Phone consults run 1 to 2, with PA/NPs handling first call
• Low callback rate, 2%

Schedule

• Call only, 7A to 7A
• Beeper call with 30 minute response time
• 5 to 7 shifts per month

Cases and Procedures

• General CV and thoracic surgery, open and endoscopic
• Coronary artery bypass surgery, on pump and off pump
• Valvular repair and replacement, aneurysm repair cardiac and aorto thoracic
• Congenital defects including ASD, VSD, PFO; chest wall or pleural procedures

Requirements

• Must be an MD or DO
• Board Certified in Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery
• ACLS and BLS
• South Carolina license required, will consider candidates with an active IMLC LOQ only
