GIM Physician Researcher (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) 

The Division of General Internal Medicine at Duke University is seeking an exceptional academic internal medicine physician to join our core faculty. The Division has a robust presence in all three missions of the Duke School of Medicine through exceptional patient care programs, research to improve health and health care delivery, and training programs for the next generation of internists. Faculty are engaged in diverse areas of health care delivery science and collaborate closely with other clinical departments and institutes across the School of Medicine and University, including the Department of Population Health Sciences, Duke Clinical Research Institute, Duke Cancer Institute, Margolis Institute for Health Policy and many others. Duke is also home to a Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center funded by the National Institute on Aging, the Primary Care Research Consortium, and has close ties to the Durham VA Health Systems Research Center of Innovation (COIN). 
 
We are seeking early or mid-career physician scholars whose research program seeks to improve health and advance healthcare delivery. Examples of our current areas of focus include:

• Cancer and disease prevention
• Addressing disparities and promoting health equity
• Population health, health services research and policy, implementation science
• Primary care, social determinants of health, multiple chronic conditions 

We welcome applications from candidates with research interests in these or other areas that are broadly relevant to general medicine and health care delivery science.

Requirements

•         Medical Degree (MD/DO); Board-Eligible or Board-Certified in internal medicine 
•         Excellent clinical skills and interest in ambulatory internal medicine practice
•         Relevant training and/or experience in clinical or health services research 
•         Highly self-motivated individual, enthusiastic about scientific discovery and able to collaborate closely and effectively with other members of a team 
•         Demonstrated ability or potential to secure external funding 
•         Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and oral)
