Company Profile

University of Wisconsin Department of Emergency Medicine

Company Overview

Since our founding in 2014, the BerbeeWalsh Department of Emergency Medicine has become a nationally recognized, top-tier academic department of emergency medicine. We strive to advance our specialty and to improve the health and well-being of our patients through leadership in clinical care, medical education, research, advocacy, and community engagement.

We deliver high-quality care to patients from the upper Midwest through state-of-the-art clinical facilities and services and robust clinical programs, including critical care, ultrasound, pediatric emergency medicine, and prehospital medicine. Integral to our mission is training the next generation of emergency physicians and clinician-scientists through our three-year ACGME-accredited emergency medicine residency program and ten fellowship training programs — several of which are accredited by ACGME, SAEM, and EUFAC.

Our research enterprise performs high-impact emergency care research and has been highly competitive for extramural funding since its founding. We strongly support the development of federally funded physician-scientists who are dedicated to generating new knowledge and advancing health care. Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exist across UW–Madison, with active programs in basic, clinical, and public health science.

We invite you to join our forward-focused group of more than 60 academic faculty members who are deeply committed to identifying and addressing barriers to health and fostering belonging and engagement across all aspects of our work.
