We are seeking an individual with a minimum of one year of RN experience for this role. This is a Special Weekend Option position which qualifies for premium pay! This position is also referral eligible.

Ball Memorial's adult intensive care unit is an 18-bed unit specializes in Comprehensive care putting the patient and their family first, addressing all elements of care medical, emotional, and spiritual. Driven by evidence-based practice to provide up to date care and pushing the field of nursing forward. we use a multidisciplinary team approach consisting of nurses, physicians, patient care assistants, case managers, and secretarial support staff. Our care team specializes in the care of acutely ill medical/surgical patients, with a primary focus on patients effected by trauma, general surgery, stroke, cardiac arrest respiratory failure/prone, neurosurgery, and unstable critical patients. We pride ourselves on our strong partnership and high-quality care we deliver to our patients.
Nursing skills gained on this unit:
- Service Specialties: Ventriculostomy/Neurosurgery, CRRT/CVVHD, IABP, NIHSS Stroke Certification, Target Temperature Management, TBI Management, Assistance with bedside procedures (bronchoscopy, central line placement, intubation, cardioversion, etc.)
Unit Successes/Designations:
- Structured support and mentors for new nurses to transition through their first 2 years from novice to expert.
- 12-14 Week Nursing Orientation
- Supporting our local community to provide quick stroke treatment
- Comprehensive post-arrest care
- Comprehensive trauma care
- Multiple staff members who have presented at national conferences.
- Professional Development (CCRN driven)
- Several Daisy Award Winning Nurses with an abundance of nurses receiving nominations
Unit Culture:

- We strive to provide excellent, evidence-based care and genuine compassion for our patients and their families.
Qualifications:
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
