Description
UT Southwestern is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (nurse practitioner or physician assistant) to join a world-class pediatric nephrology team in Dallas, Texas.
This position will be working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team within the UT Southwestern Pediatric Nephrology division at Children's Health, Dallas to provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients who suffer from renal disorders. The role will demonstrate a high degree of critical thinking and clinical expertise in working with pediatric patients in the inpatient setting and is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management education, consultation, and health promotion and care coordination for patients and families.

Job Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and treat critically ill patients, develop and manage treatment plans, and perform advanced procedures
- Conduct and document comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status
- Synthesize data and utilize evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results
- Demonstrate proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate based on specialty and training
- Provide relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures
- Facilitate/participate in quality related initiatives through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings, to improve clinical and system practice performance
- Collaborate in research projects and protocols; and routinely apply evidence based best practices to patient care

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Must be a CPNP-AC or PA-C
- NP: Texas RN license, Recognition as Acute Care PNP in Texas, Certification as Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner through Pediatric Nursing, Certification Board (PNCB) with prescriptive authority (DPS/DEA required)
- PA: PA Licensure through Texas Medical Board and Certification through National Commission in Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) with prescriptive authority (DPS/DEA required)
- Must be BLS and PALS certified by the American Heart Association or Red Cross
- Pediatric nephrology experience required; for a PA-C will consider adult excluding dialysis
- Adjacent experience: CVICU, PICU
